Matt Wegner is a certified financial counselor with the heart of a teacher. He founded his coaching business to share with others the
peace of mind that comes with taking control of your money and living with a plan for the future. Today Matt works closely with his clients to walk them step by step through the same principles that helped him win with money, and have been taught for the last several thousand years in the Bible.
Matt spent nine years in various leadership and staff roles in both the U.S. Army and corporate America. A former Field Artillery officer and a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Matt learned first hand the value of good, solid training and education in all aspects of life. He also experienced the importance of having a strong relationship with the Almighty Lord, who makes all things possible to those who believe.
Throughout his career, Matt felt the pull of a higher calling to serve the community. He and his wife Janelle had recently discovered the key to being on the same page with their finances. They learned how to create a budget that actually works, and to establish a spending plan without fighting about it. Through this process, they eliminated thousands of dollars in debt to become free of the slavery to their lenders. In 2007 Matt became a Dave Ramsey Certified Financial Counselor to help others feel the same sense of relief and freedom that comes from becoming debt free.
When Matt lost his job with a local company, he and Janelle didn’t miss a beat. They continued to live debt free, reducing expenses to live on their emergency fund while starting and growing two businesses. The ability to transition virtually stress free inspired Matt to focus his efforts on helping others experience the same success with their finances. Today he teaches the same essential financial skills that enabled his family to enjoy Living In Financial Excellence.
Matt believes strongly in having good balance in life between health, work, family, and God. Living life with one area stronger or weaker than the others leaves you off balance. Personal finance often has the biggest impact on all four areas. Learning to control your money makes the balance possible by removing the biggest distraction in your life.
Matt is a loyal husband and father of two. He and his family currently make their home near Lake Michigan in Wisconsin. In addition to raising his family, Matt serves as the Stewardship Committee chairman at his local church, and is dedicated to sharing and giving the blessings God has bestowed upon him back to the church community.
